Shinra Inc. is an evil corporation that controls the mako energy that provides the world with power. By harvesting tha mako they suck the life out of the planet. AVALANCHE, a terrorist group, rises to destroy Shinra. With the help of a mercenary, Cloud Strife, they manage to destroy one of the mako reactors. Soon after that they find their true battle is not against Shinra but against an all powerful warrior thought to be dead who wants to destroy the planet and all life on it. Cloud, though at first acting as a mercenary, becomes a great leader, but he has his own battle to fight: with his own memory.
